“Shortly after I assumed the presidency at Bellingham Technical College, the Board of Trustees and I embarked on a campaign to elevate the profile of the institution in our community. As part of the effort to create a more dynamic public presence, we decided we needed a new brand identity and graphics presentation for our printed pieces as well as advertising.
Yvonne Cartwright personally led the work to update our graphic identity. She led a series of focus groups with key stakeholders on campus and in the community, and presented thorough research of the history of BTC’s current logo, and a review of contemporary trends in the logos of educational institutions.
CCg then presented us with a variety of potential new logos for BTC, each accompanied by a rationale describing both its connection to our historical graphic image and the progressive elements it emphasized. This discussion was as invaluable in our selection process as were the images themselves.
We now use the selected logo, and corresponding graphics standards developed by CCg, on all our publications, our signage, our print advertising and banners on campus. The public response has been excellent.
